The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa

                         The Iron Fey Series
                           By Julie Kagawa

  • The Iron King(Book 1)
  • The Iron Daughter(Book 2)
  • The Iron Queen(Book 3)

                        Synopses:
The Iron King:
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Age Group: Young Adult
Genre: YA Fantasy

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school...or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth-that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face...and to find love with a young price who might rather see her dead than to let her touch his icy heart.

The Iron Daughter:
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Age Group: Young Adult
Genre: YA Fantasy

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter Prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey-ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.

Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

The Iron Queen:
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Age Group: Young Adult
Genre: YA Fantasy

My name is Meghan Chase.

I thought it was over now. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

THIS TIME.
THERE WILL BE NO TURNING BACK.

                 MY REVIEW:

Can I start this review by saying this is one of the best YA series that I have ever read!!!  The fact that I read all three books back-to-back says a lot because usually I have to take a break between each book so I don't get tired of them. Oh but not the Iron Fey Series.
This series has it all: action, adventure, romance, and humor. Meghan as a protagonist was the type of heroine that I wish were seen more often in YA literature. She was strong, funny, and did what had to be done to save her brother, Faery, etc.( depending on which book in the series you're reading).

The Pros of this series are:

  • Character development ( Meghan, Ash, and Puck matured and became more likable with each book with one minor exception which I will mention is the CONS section)
  • Simply and beautiful written. This was a story world that you want to get lost in. Julie Kagawa did a wonderful job sticking to the story and not going off  into tangents that took away from the story.
  • Great Pace( These books hook you in from the beginning, very hard to put down for long periods of time without wondering what is going to happen next)

The Cons of this series:

The Iron Fey Series had in my opinion two very tiny CONS that aren't really a big deal but I feel that I should mention them because one of them kind of annoyed me and the other one I'm curious about.

  • Meghan at the beginning of book two( The Iron Daughter). Meghan went from being really fierce at the end of The Iron King doing whatever was necessary to keep her family safe to being a whiny brat for a couple of chapters. I'm glad it passed because I was starting to worry whether I would like the book if that kept up.
  • Why is Grimalkin's explanation for everything, " I am Cat". It's something I am curious about and wish had been answered.

In My Mailbox (IMM #1)

Welcome to my first In My Mailbox!!!
The books I received this week are a mixture of ones that I bought for myself but some of them are for my daughter. However, I will most likely read all of  them because a couple of them seem like they would be really interesting.

Mr.Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John Grisham

Middle School: The Worse Years of my Life by James Patterson

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

The following books are all by Sherrilyn Kenyon:

The Dream Hunter

Dream Chaser

Dream Warrior

I ordered a few books from Amazon but they aren't due to arrive until September 20th so I decided not to include them in this post. I will do another IMM next week after they arrive.

Happy Reading!

Welcome!!!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. I wanted to write a brief post about what I want to do with this blog and to let you know that it might be a couple of weeks before you really start to see something that actually resembles a blog( or rather the blog I want it to be).
Well by the title of the blog you can probably already tell that it's going to be about... BOOKS!
I plan on writing reviews and I will mostly likely figure out some sort of grading/ recommendation system. I am also more than willing to accept recommendations on what you would like me to review. Fair warning: It might take me awhile to get to the books you want to review because 1.) I'm a working mom( enough said, right?)  2) I will have to track down the books if I don't already own them( I live in a small town so a lot of the time the library isn't really an option and I will have to order them which will take time).
I have a few books which are already in my TO BE REVIEWED but I'm not going to announce what they are at this time because I can be really fickle sometimes and I might change my mind lol. Also I want to finish my current book before I write my first review.
Thank you for dropping by! I'm so excited and I know with time I can turn this into something great.
BTW I apologize if this post sounds awful it's the first blog post I have EVER done but hopefully with time my writing skills will get better.

Happy Reading!!
